Open 7 days a weekOur Staplehurst centre has been named the UK's Local Garden Centre of the Year at the 2025 Garden Centre Association (GCA) Conference, held in Reading.
Going up against 200 garden centres nationwide, Millbrook Staplehurst took home one of the top awards of the night, the UK's Local Garden Centre of the Year! Our team also received a national award for the Best Garden Products Retailer (in the Local Garden Centre category) – testament to our passion for offering top-quality plants and products.
Proud and Delighted
Reacting to the win, Millbrook’s Managing Director Tammy Woodhouse said:
“I’m really proud and delighted that we've won this award. We are the first recipients in this new category that recognises smaller garden centres. It's an amazing achievement for our team to be seen among the best in the UK, they have worked so hard for this, reaching and maintaining a really high standard."
GCA Chief Executive, Peter Burks, praised this year’s winners, saying:

Building on Last Year’s Success
This latest win follows on from Millbrook Gravesend’s incredible achievements at the 2024 GCA Awards, where we ranked 8th in the UK’s top 10 garden centres and won the Paul Cooling Environment & Sustainability Award for our commitment to planet-friendly gardening.
We’re also really proud of our team member, Dan Furley, who made it to the final of the GCA 2025 Rising Stars Programme with his inspiring fruit tree campaign. Sponsored by Westland, the Rising Star programme gives up-and-coming employees from garden centres across the UK the opportunity to grow their skills through industry mentoring and workshops. Dan was one of four finalists invited to present at this year’s conference ahead of a vote for the overall winner.
What Makes the GCA Awards So Special?
The GCA Awards are no ordinary accolades – they recognise the very best garden centres in the UK, based on an intensive, year-long audit process. With no prior notice, GCA inspectors visit over 200 centres up and down the country, assessing everything from customer service and plant quality to creativity and sustainability. To win, standards must be consistently high all year round – something we strive for everyday at Millbrook.
